Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding regions remain critical following reports of a second tanker strike in the Strait of Hormuz, deepening the U.S.-Iran shipping crisis [4]. Gulf countries have strongly condemned Iran's drone attack on Bahrain, with concerns that rising tensions could threaten existing M.O.U.s [2]. Navies have raised the threat level to ships amidst these incidents [6], and the IMO Chief has warned against using shipping as collateral in any potential U.S.-Iran conflict [9]. The IRGC appears to be rebuffing a U.S. Strait of Hormuz 'hotline' [7].

Tankers & shipping lanes
A second tanker has reportedly been struck in the Strait of Hormuz, exacerbating the U.S.-Iran shipping crisis [4]. This follows an earlier report of a tanker being struck in Hormuz as navies raised the threat level to ships [6]. Saudi Arabia is, however, ramping up oil exports as its Gulf ports restart [8], and Vitol has successfully sailed a stranded aluminum cargo out of the Strait of Hormuz [10]. Oman suggests the Strait of Hormuz may not revert to its pre-conflict status and signals possible transit fees for ships [13]. The IMO Chief emphasizes that shipping must not be used as collateral in the U.S-Iran conflict [9].
Seafarer safety & detentions
There are no new reported instances of seafarer detentions or direct threats to seafarer safety, beyond the general increased risk due to naval threat levels and tanker strikes [4][6]. Twenty-two Iranian tanker crew members, previously interdicted by the U.S., have arrived in Pakistan for repatriation [14].
Oil, gas & energy prices
The headlines do not explicitly detail current impacts on oil and LNG prices, or global energy supply. Saudi Arabia's increased oil exports from Gulf ports [8] could potentially contribute to supply, but the overall situation remains tense due to tanker attacks [4][6].
Geopolitics & military activity
Gulf countries have strongly condemned Iran's drone attack on Bahrain, raising concerns about existing Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) [2]. The U.S. had previously conducted strikes against Iranian missile and drone storage facilities following an attack on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz [15][16][17]. Iran has reasserted control over Hormuz after a ship attack near Oman and warned Gulf States against backing the U.S. [18]. The IRGC appears to have rebuffed a U.S. 'hotline' for the Strait of Hormuz [7]. There is also a report that the U.S. may move Gulf military bases, previously hit by Iran, westward, potentially to Israel [11]. Hezbollah has rejected an Israel-Lebanon agreement even as Israeli attacks hit southern Lebanon [3], raising questions about a ceasefire agreement [5] and framework deal [21].
